This year’s Operation Pangea builds on Health Canada‘s ongoing actions against illegal and counterfeit health products that lead to a seizure of 1,278 packages at the border during this week.

As part of Health Canada’s ongoing commitment to preventing unlicensed health products from entering the Canadian market, a partnership called Operation Pangea including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Canada Border Services Agency and the International Crime Police Organization, entered its eighth consecutive year.

This year’s annual international week of action that took place between June 9-16 saw participation from 115 countries and 236 police, customs and health regulatory agencies from around the world.

Health Canada has formed a website www.healthycanadians.ca to help educated Canadians about the rusk of buying drugs, natural health products or medical devices online. Such counterfeit and unlicensed products do not undergo rigorous regulatory checks by the Canadian authorities and can lead to serious negative consequences for the user.
