In a significant move underscoring its commitment to leadership excellence and strategic growth, Daiya Foods’ Board of Directors has proudly announced the appointment of Hajime Fujita as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. This pivotal decision marks a new era for Daiya Foods as it continues to assert its dominance in the plant-based food industry, both in North America and on the global stage.

A Proven Leader with a Global Perspective

Hajime Fujita, a seasoned executive with over 17 years of extensive experience in global business and financial planning, is set to spearhead Daiya Foods’ operations. His expertise, particularly in the US and Asia-Pacific regions, positions him uniquely to drive the company’s ambitious growth plans. Fujita’s journey with Daiya began as a Director, following his instrumental role in facilitating the acquisition of Daiya by Otsuka Pharmaceuticals in 2017. His tenure at Otsuka Pharmaceuticals, culminating in the role of Vice President, Business Planning, has been marked by significant achievements, including his pivotal contribution to the development of Daiya’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Fujita’s Vision for Daiya

Reflecting on his appointment, Mr. Fujita expressed his enthusiasm for Daiya’s potential in revolutionizing the plant-based sector through innovative product development and aggressive marketing strategies. “Rejoining Daiya during this dynamic phase in the plant-based industry is exhilarating. I am eager to collaborate with our talented team to further elevate the Daiya brand and make a substantial impact in the market,” said Fujita.

Strategic Leadership Restructuring

Complementing Mr. Fujita’s appointment, Daiya’s Board has also announced strategic changes within the leadership team. Melanie Domer, previously Chief Marketing Officer, will transition to the role of Chief Commercial Officer, integrating marketing and sales functions. Concurrently, John Kelly, formerly VP of Consumer Marketing, steps into the role of Chief Marketing Officer. These changes are designed to streamline Daiya’s operations, enhancing consumer engagement and driving category growth.

Melanie Domer commented on her new role, “Integrating sales and marketing under one umbrella will enable Daiya to create more cohesive consumer experiences and strengthen our position in the plant-based food sector.” John Kelly added, “Leading Daiya’s marketing initiatives is a privilege. I am committed to propelling the brand to new heights and solidifying our status as a leader in the plant-based food industry in North America.”

Looking Ahead

With these strategic leadership appointments and organizational changes, Daiya Foods is poised to not only expand its market reach but also to redefine the plant-based food industry. Under the guidance of Hajime Fujita and the newly structured leadership team, Daiya is set to embark on a journey of innovation, growth, and unparalleled market leadership.
